About IGCSE

IGCSE, also known as the International General Certificate of Secondary Education, is a widely recognized international certification that signifies the completion of secondary school education. It is considered equivalent to the UK's O Level or GCSE and serves as a pathway to Advanced Level (A Level), sixth form (Year 12 & 13), or pre-university studies.

Unlike the UK national curriculum, the IGCSE curriculum is often seen as more similar to the O Level, resulting in examinations that are known for their challenging and rigorous nature.

There are two main exam boards, Edexcel and CAIE (Cambridge Assessment International Education), that offer the IGCSE to international learners. CAIE's IGCSE is characterized by its complex combinations of exam papers and relies on teachers' predictions for grading. However, this sometimes leads to discrepancies between learners' aspirations and teachers' predictions, resulting in lower paper entries and hindering students from achieving higher grades. Learners often express frustration over the inability to adjust their exam entries promptly, which contributes to increased stress levels.

On the other hand, Edexcel's IGCSE takes a more straightforward approach by using a uniform combination of exam papers for all learners. This ensures that every student has an equal opportunity to achieve the highly sought-after A* grade (or Grade 9 with the new grading scale system). This simplified approach aims to provide a fair and standardized testing experience for all IGCSE candidates
